My journey so far

After making the decision to explore my passion with wildlife and bird photography, it's time to take it to the next level, I've decided to start my own blog to share with you my experiences that I come across while delving into the magical world of nature and wildlife photography.

It all started during our family trip to Madhya Pradesh, for which I bought a small Nikon superzoom, the meager L820 and took some long range bird shots. It was a fully automatic camera, so the images I took, were totally due to the camera settings it chose for me, whether good or bad, but mostly average. When I posted them in my Facebook profile, some were surprisingly well received. Some of my friends even encouraged me to buy a DSLR and start full on shooting.

  But...

I was skeptical about my abilities and passion, thought I will never be able to devote much time because of having a full time office job. So, I fiddled around with my superzoom for some time, and came across this link..http://stokesbirdingblog.blogspot.in/2013/02/canon-sx-50-hs-for-bird-photography-i.html. Please do read this or have a quick look, the site is very informative.

It's about another superzoom from Canon. I switched camp and went over to that side on 2014...while the SX50 is/was a good camera, I waited for it's successor to be an even better one. And it was, and still is, the SX60 eluded from me those flying bird shots which professional photographers caught. It gave me many good shots of birds and also a leopard , what luck!

I still use it, and intend to do so for my macro work, which I'll share in later posts.

Presently I own a Nikon D500 (switching camps again, can anyone even trust me?) and a Nikkor 200-500mm lens. This combination I took to my latest safari to Bandhavgarh on October,2017.. It worked very well for me and allowed me to get some nice shots...(NatGeo calling!!!!! No, not yet, still a loooooooo.....oooong way to go.).

I don't know whether I'll be able to follow my heart and enjoy my passion or not, I don't intend to give up..

I intend to share my experiences with you, the ups and downs of it, and the joy of being in the zone for a few moments..until then, take care..happy reading.
